After a wonderful season in which he played a major role in Al Sadd’s return to the top of the local scene, Khalfan Ibrahim was chosen as the player of the 2012-13 season in Qatar.
The 25-year-old former Asian Player of the year received the award on Sunday during a special ceremony that marked the end of the season.
Al Sadd’s Houcine Amouta won the coach of the season award; while the team’s promising left back Abdul Karim Hassan was awarded the young player of the season award.
Spanish legend Raul Gonzalez who was also nominated for the player of the season award, won the fair play award after ending his first season in Qatari football with al Sadd without receiving a single yellow card.
Al Khor won the managerial team of the season award, while Al Sadd and al Rayyan fans shared the fans of the season award.
