In only their second participation in Asia's top competition, Lekwhiya made it to the quarter finals of the AFC Champions League, after a thrilling 2-2 draw at home with Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal.

The two-time Qatar Stars league winners went into the game as favorites after taking a 1-0 lead from the first leg in Riyadh, and they looked in control when Issiar Dia put them ahead in the 14th minute.

The Senegalese received a great pass from Youssef Msakni and made no mistake with a powerful low shot.

Early in the second half it was 2-0 for the home side when Karim Boudiaf headed a cross from Nam Tae Hee into the path of Mohamed Moussa, and the powerful defender headed in from close range.

The introduction of the experienced Mohamed Al Shalhoub i the second half helped the Saudi side get back in the game, as they pulled one back in the 64th minute through Salman Al Faraj who met a low cross from Salem Al Dosari with a powerful drive past the keeper Amine Lecomte.

Yasser Al Qahtani was fouled in the box by Moussa and Al Shalhoub leveled the score from the spot to set up a nail-biting finale to the game.

Lekhwiya will be Qatar's only representative in quarter finals of the competition, as Al Gharrafa and Al Jaish crashed out on Tuesday in front of Saudi opponents.
