According to local media, Emir Cup Champions Al Rayyan secured their first major summer signing yesterday after agreeing a deal with Getafe attacking midfielder Abdelaziz Barrada.
The 24-year-old Morocco international passed a medical at Aspetar yesterday and is set to be presented in a press conference at the club’s headquarters today.
The press conference was scheduled for yesterday, but was postponed due to a disagreement related to the release clause in the player’s contract with Getafe.
Over the past couple of years, Barrada attracted interest from major European clubs in Spain and England including Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Manchester United, especially in the opening weeks of the 2012-13 LA LIGA season when he scored the winner in a 2-1 win for Getafe against their giant neighbors Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Al Rayyan’s star Rodrigo Tabata might be on his way out of the club. Ittihad Jeddah of Saudi Arabia are interested in signing the 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder.
