Thani made some surprise changes to the squad |
The match will kick off at 18:30 local time (GMT +3) in Al Sadd stadium, and will be open to public.
The two teams already faced each other twice during the ongoing 2014 World Cup qualifiers, and Qatar won both encounters 1-0, with Sebastian Soria scoring the winning goals on both occasions.
Thani, who is Qatar’s first ever local fulltime coach, will have a chance to put the final touches on his team before they kick off their 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers on February 6th against Malaysia in Doha.
The 39-year old coach announced a 26-man squad few days ago.The squad saw the return of Al Rayyan’s right winger Hamed Ismael, who was omitted from the Gulf Cup squad. Other notable new inclusions were 18-year-old central defender Ahmed Yasser, brother of Lierse striker Hussein Yasser, and Al Wakrah right-back Youssef Moftah.
Experienced players like Marcone, Mohamed Kasula and Lawrence Quaye were not included.

Lebanon will also take part in the qualifiers and their first mission will be facing west Asian giants Iran in Tehran, also on February 6th.
German coach Theo Bücker picked up a full strength squad that saw the return of a number of experienced players, including striker Mohamed Ghaddar, who spent a god season with Malaysia’s AFC Cup contenders Kelantan before joining another Malaysian club, FELDA United earlier this year.
